toyota yaris: water in boot?

hi everyone

my friend owns an 01 toyota yaris and has noticed water ponding in the boot. the seals on the boot lid appear to be in good condition and i'm not sure if the rear window wiper has a water supply.

has anyone experience with this problem and what could I look for to help find the cause?

any comments/suggestions would be really appreciated

Worth having a read of this about two odd examples of water penetration: 1) via the lamp cluster and 2) via the rubber boot that shrouds the cables that run to the rear door. Hope this is useful.
