I wasn't talking about "fat" girls dimwit, they at least have an opportunity to do something about their appearance. I was referring to young girls who don't happen to have the looks of a film star or fashion model. And who for no other reason than this are made to feel inferior in our modern "short attention span, instant gratification" society.

I have to agree with sooey (ok so I'll admit I've used words like tunky and fat) about the image that society pushes. The preponderance of stick thin models , actresses and the like don't do anything for the self esteem of what I would term normally sized and shaped people. Pop music is as much about image as it about talent and this subject of body image will keep coming up.

Hold your horses it ain't all about image. Wot about Adele? Gingerish and big boned and don't look all that, but wow what a voice, I would let her sing me into bed, unlike Beth Ditto! I draw the line there. If you got talent and work hard u can make it. Don't ge me wrong if chezza cole looked like Adele she would be working in Lidl or Aldi!
You are right of course , I mean that a more rotund singer has more of an uphill job to be succesful and to be fair most of the larger ones mentioned on here are good talented singers where as skinny so so singers seem to be ten a penny and have used their physical attractiveness to get where they are.

I know this topic is about singers, and I took it off topic a bit with my interjection on behalf of girls who don't fit the desired template. But I was more concerned with the millions of ordinary looking girls who get slated for being "mingers" on a Saturday night out. Usually by plain looking lads who these days all seem to think that they are god's gift to women. It just amazes me the way the attitude between the sexes has changed over the last 20/30 years, and I feel sorry for the poor kids who get the sh*tty end of the stick.

Don't go the local but always wear a suit for Weddings, Funerals, Christenings, Christmas and Easter.
