When I turn on the heat or hot water the boiler starts up its processes (but not fires up) then the fume indicator comes on automatically and stops the fire up process. This happens every time. If it's significant, over the past week or so the overheat sensor (red led) has kicked in a few times but when I hit reset it worked ok again.

I've checked the external flue and there is no sign of anything in there. I've even turned everything off and used a leaf blower (in suction mode) to make sure. The flu is also under an archway so it cant be water or rain getting in.

I have an engineer coming but not until later in the week...... just would like some help on what it might be (the last engineer I had out told me I needed a new boiler 3 years ago and all i needed was a new timing clock)

Thanks!!

Wait for the engineer. The warning is flame failure and not a problem you are likley to solve, unless of course the wife has hung her handbag on the gas meter shut off valve.

Thanks, wouldnt dream of touching the boiler myself, really just trying to get a handle on what it might be..... I'm very nosy that way :)
