Seems that it's not only me that doesn't understand the difference between climate and the weather then :roll:

Perhaps you could explain which "average" you are referring to, and indeed how these apparently don't change on a day-to-day basis to form the summative "climate" :?

You may wish to consider the concept of n-point moving mean averages which determine trendlines, and hence a working definition of climate. You may also wish to reflect upon the fact that everyday's weather contributes towards the variation of these averages and that therefore the weather and climate are inextricably linked.

You may also wish to reflect on not trying to sound clever and knowledgeable when you are not :roll: . Rude little man :roll:
 
Anyway, back to topic :roll:

If indeed the climate is warming, then:

(a) Why are we getting more frequent spates of cold weather?
(b) Why is this blamed on global warming? Why is it "causal"?
 
Snowing here, reasonably heavily and is sticking. Probably on its way over to you, although the sea air may reduce its impact?
 
-8 at 7am this morning up here. It's a bit of a more reasonable +1 just now but as Di2 has beat me to adding it's pi$hing down here too.
Could be worse, my father-in-law works in Frankfurt and last night it was -16, they are really getting hit with this Siberian cold front.

Some scientists speculate we are due another ice age, and it's all the excess CO2 and other greenhouse gases which may prevent it, if true I know which I'd prefer!

But are we really? I read somewhere it used to snow more a hundred years ago.
Haven't had proper snow this year, in London yet.

Supposedly global warming also causes climate change, winds and ocean currents change direction so if we used to get a warm air current, maybe it's either reduced or the air comes from a colder region.

I can see how, from basic chaos theory, everything affects everything. It's whether this can be predicted in any tangible or useful way - I remember reading some old maths papers on Catastrophe Theory back in the 1980's on a range of topics including prison riots and ship stability. These seem to go some way to hinting at deterministic predictions based on projections of multi-dimensional parametric sheets onto hyperplanes, and where "shadows" occurred all was well.

Think that chaos theory was the next thing to pick up the mantle, in particular with regard to climactic variations within fractal spaces.

Having said that, my feet are still freezing :lol: :lol:
 
Piddling down heavy in Yorkshire but now starting to turn to sleet......icicles starting to form now on window ledges........dont need a weather forecast to tell me its going to be bitterly cold tonight
 
:roll: its raining ice here now....having just gone a***e over t*t on my own front step....i take back my "its mild" comment...

:roll: ive got no one to keep me warm tonight :cry:
