Boxing...

It simply proves my point that the human race is pretty sick and kids being brought up believing that gratuitous violence is right will breed offspring that believe that gratuitous violence is right. Bet your Dad like boxing.

I reckon Joe is French, or Italian. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

I boxed a bit late teens early twenties. Learnt self discipline, restraint and respect. Still train 4 or 5 times a week. More weights now less jogging and no sparring (too old, 46). For the record I was much less likely to hit someone after getting some proper guidance and training. It can really do kids some good.

they should put thugs in the ring up against pro boxers then it would be worth watching

It's no use hiding behind words - your children have the desire to kill - just like you do.
Stop acting like a pompous dick!
Oh and get your facts right. Since when have Alarms children been in the Army? From your previous comments on the subject you know jack diddly about so please stop trying to act like you do know.

As for sports with physical contact. You don't like it, so be it. Your call. Doesn't mean others should follow your miserable path.

and i can fully understand why you don't like contact sport - got fed up of the beatings did you?

I can understand the rigour, the discipline, the training etc etc etc. I can also understand sports which will involve physical contact. What I don't get is when the whole purpose of this training is to punch the living daylights out of somebody else.

It helps to stop them from punching the living daylights out of you.

Now that is an explanation which does indeed justify it :)

I'm happy with that

Ali tried to get them to dance when they wouldn't he'd thrash them.

Street fighting is a differnet scenario though isn't it?

Know a couple of guys who went out for a night and ended up being attacked by four other guys.
Won't go into details as its a long story but anyway two of those guys ended up in hospital and the other two ran for their lives.
It was on the news the following morning with police appealing for witnesses citing a "horrific attack". I was at work the following morning with them and seen the damage to one of them and the penny dropped.
All it takes is one guy with a mean streak.

It's as you say - discipline. Controlled agression and earning a living where some of the boxers might have been on the streets mugging others.
