Hi all,

The plumber has fitted the pipework for the mixer bar, the tiler has tiled over and left the hot and cold coming through the tiles, i have come to put the shower bar on and the plumber hash't fitted a wall plate fixing kit so there is a lot of movement. the pipework is behind walls which is not accessible and i now have tenants in the house, so i need to fix the problem with as little disruption as possible.

I was thinking of fixing something behind the shrouds which would act as a support between the tiles and the actual mixer bar, but to be honest i would appreciate any advice please.

regards

Is it just bare pipework or has he fitted the doglegs on the pipework ?

If by doglegs you mean the fitting that goes from the pipework to the mixer, yes, he fitted them as well, he stated that when he was fitting them he got as far back as access would allow.

Yes but the pipes aren't secure they need wall plates that the doglegs fit into.

Is it stud wall or block ?

Hi Seco, that's exactly my point. This hasn't been fitted, so is there anything that i can do now, that the tiles are on. i.e. retro-fit. Something that goes inside of the shroud to give stability or something.

If tiles are reasonably newly fitted they should come off again without breaking, so take a couple off and do the necessary behind the wall, it's probably the only way to go from here. Alternatively get your plumber back to do it as he hasn't done it properly in the first place. I hope you didn't pay him very much, if at all....

Ok thats my suggestion get the plumber back or diy and remove tile/s
(you must have a few spare from new install)
either fit 2 wall plates or just replace section of the pipes and fit external bar mixer kit.

But either way the tiles need removing.
The general idea is the mixer pulls on the wall not the pipework.

much appreciated. I will do it right and take the tiles off

Won't take long once the tiles are off.
Pipeworks a doddle the times in the tiles ;)
