Hi guys,

I have an Infinite Prime wireless alarm system which I have been more than happy with, however because the main panel is installed inside a cupboard upstairs, the internal sounder isn't very loud. The system is connected to a wireless sounder module (INF-WSM) and a Texecom Odyssey bellbox.

I have purchased this following quadruple internal sound bomb:

And would like to power it from an independent power supply and the following relay:

I have the following terminals available on the panel and the wireless sounder module

Aux power output (AC operated 10-15V, Battery Operated 6-8V)
Strobe
Trigger
0V
12V

Can someone confirm the correct way in which the relay should be wired:

Input +/- > to external 12V PSU
Output +/- > to sound bomb

I'm a little unsure how I should wire the other end to make the sound bomb sound when the external siren is triggered. Any help would be very much appreciated.

You can connect the negative from the independent power supply directly to the sound bomb negative. You can then connect the positive of the independent power supply to CON1 (C) Common of the relay. From CON1 (N/O) Normally Open on the relay connect to the positive of the sound bomb.

When the relay is energised, the normally open switch on CON1 is closed, thus providing power to the sound bomb.

Trigger (-) and 12V (+) from the panel to the relay + and - inputs.

Thank you.

I also have a programmable relay output on the panel rated at 100ma if this makes it any simpler? I can set the polarity of this and program it to either close or open on a siren trigger event.

100mA for a relay contact. Are you sure ? Seems a little bit low for relay contacts. If the output is rated at 100mA, then it's not enough to drive the sound bomb directly, so you will need to drive the sounder in another way.

If the panel aux output has spare capacity, then you could have the relay switching aux to the sounder and negate the need for any independent power supply. You just need to do the sums on the outputs and what's connected already.

Okay, I see that. It's a strange one, as even reed relay contacts can drive double that. It may be something to do with their track layouts, but although it's a clean set of voltage free contacts, not that much use on its own for driving your siren.

I took a look at a Prime installation manual and couldn't see any reference to the -Ve trigger and strobe connections you mentioned previously. It may be a different model though. I was looking to see what these outputs were capable of driving.

Just as a matter of fact a "Sound Bomb" is not for an entry/exit notification. Rated at about 110db, you certainly don't want that going off at 2 am when you come home.

Your getting mixed up with an internal speaker.

You could set it up so the external sounder (Texecom Oddy you said). Or increase the volume on the panel sounder if it is not already turned up.
Or using the programmable output make it Entry/Exit follow and Active High.
Then as it is a low output use this by your entry/exit door.

Even so it may be a little loud, so perhaps this, http://www.maplin.co.uk/miniature-buzzer-3213?c=froogle&u=3213&t=module

But as it is your barking up the wrong tree.

Did I miss something from the OP ? I didn't see any mention of connecting the Sound Bomb for exit/entry. Where did you read that ?

Internal sounder to me is entry exit sounds. So when upstairs in a cupboard she cannot hear it setting or unsetting.
As she probably sleeps upstairs the external and internals would suffice when part armed.

OP will either confirm this or not.
Either way the output isnt up to anything much, but it should drive a relay if needed.

The panel has both a speaker and siren. The entry and exit tones are generated by the internal siren (this is a user configurable parameter). The tones are perfectly audible when entering/leaving the premesis.

Although they are audible, the internal siren just isn't loud enough to scare an intruder, hence my reason for wanting to install the sound bomb in the main hallway outside the cupboard. The sound bomb should only sound when the external siren is triggered.

I think you mean speaker here, but yes, that's exactly how I read your original posts. You're going to have to use the relay as per the original reply.

No, the tones are actually generated from the siren, I have enabled this setting on the panel, see below taken from the manual:

8.8.1: Tones Output
The Tones Output option enables you to determine whether the tones sounded when arming and disarming are sounded by the control panel’s built-in siren or its built-in speaker.
To program the Tones Output option:
1. From the Programming menu, select Tones, Tones Options, Tones Output [9391].
2. Select Siren or Speaker.

Poxy panel, most other wireless has a better output or a hard wired ext sounder.

Use the output a as siren follow and as described above with the PSU.

The internal siren is rated at 105dB, that's hardly poxy?

I guarantee if I locked you in the cupboard where the panel is installed the noise would not be bearable!

It just so happens that the cupboard is well insulated and the internal siren output is somewhat reduced throughout the rest of the property.
