Most of the cheaper stuff has a single screw thru the inside into the runner preventing removal.

You draw them out till they stop, then you grasp them firmly on each side and sort of.... yank and lift, quite sharply.

Hope the units are well fixed to the walls. It can take a bit of practice to get your yanking just right.

All the best.

There are a couple of white plastic catches that spring down from inside into the drawer runner channels.
Push these up a few millimetres and this will allow you to slide the drawer forward a bit, then it should lift off its runners.

Assuming of course Ikea havent changed the design since I bought mine!

I think you just pull the draw all the way out until they stop.
Then gently lift the draw upwards, until they snap out of the runner catches.

This is what mine are like (2 years old). If you use any other method they will probabley break. The small white bits you push in are underneath, near the front on the outside runner.

Hey, i was just putting together my ikea rationell thing, and saw this post b/c I had to take the drawers out b/c I forgot to put on the spring mechanism piece of the sliding drawers.

Anyway, my rationnell unit is not attached the wall, so I layed the unit on its back (ie. the back of the unit on the floor) and then I pulled up on the drawers and they came unhitched really easy. Also, by pulling them up (rather than forward) i could see the latch piece that keeps the drawer hitched on the track so i could maneuver it easily, and pull the drawers out.

I hope this is helpful to folks.

Just bought some Rationell drawers, and the tip to press in the white plastic clip on both runners still works. You may need someone to hold the drawer after undoing one side, while the other clip is pressed in.

Op's post was 2010 , think he's sorted by now.
