Hi All,

I think the bellows hose where the filter is located in my hotpoint wd420 has a hole and is leaking but I can't find a spare.

I tried google and espares but I am not entirely sure what the whole assembly is called to find it.

Any ideas welcome.

I cleaned out the filter and the plastic grippy clip wouldn't hold it up any longer on the main pipe inlet, so I just used a jubilee clip. I assume thats not too daft :)

TIA

You mean that you cleaned the filter out and the ratchet clip that goes round the neck of the sump won't stay up. The white plastic cage in the sump goes in one way. Look at the lump in the bottom of the sump. Jubilee clip will work fine. Its called a sump kit if it leaks and you want to get a new one.

Thanks for that rocks. Yup, I had a leak and I thought I would clean the filter out to see if that helped.

I realised there were some lugs that needed lining up on the filter. I hope i have got it right.

The plastic clip just wouldn't hold it up. I was just making sure that the width of the plastic clip wasn't essential or something ridiculous :)

As far as I can make it unless its dripping from somewhere else there is a leak in the bellows pipe.

I googled for sump kits and found it under "Hotpoint Sump Assembly" on 4washerhelp for £25. Then again they charge £5 for a jubilee clip which I just got for £1.30 from a nut and bolt store(Namrick in Hove). Plumbers supplies and Homebase don't supply jubilee clips big enough for anyone looking at this thread.

Sumps don't leak unless it's pieced with a bra wire. I've changed 4 in 20 years. Make sure it tight round the neck of the drum and remove that white cover and look for a leak while running.

I think you are correct for many reasons.
1) Its not a popular thing to buy
2) I have taken it off and I can't find any holes
3) Coz you know what you are talking about :)

My next prob is no holes in the sump hose, but still a very leak from underneath it. Which must be a run off from somewhere else. Most likely from the join to the drum. It mustn't be sitting straight or something.

I have run out of towels to mop stuff up with for the minute back to it in a while. :)

Thanks for your help.

Wot you could do is put a water based dye in the mc on a 60 wash then you will see the leak by the colour of the dye.

That maybe a goer once I have sorted out the current problem.

I have currently made it worse. I have no idea how. I suspect that I need to call someone in soon. argghh.

The water is just pushing up through the jubilee clip. Poss too tight with the jubilee clip, but I dont understand why there is back pressure at all. This bit has to be something simple. :)

Thanks again.

Make sure it's pushed up to the drum outlet then tighten up. Is the end of the drain hose clear, if it's blocked you will get back pressure build up.

I checked that, there appears to be some pressure up to the drum and it goes over the top of the bellows pipe/clip area. I think I didn't have it centred or something, trouble is I don't have the filter back in now - argghh.

I don't know how you do this for real.

This has driven me mad for a week.

Thanks for all your help :)
