Yes this country has committed plenty of atrocities, there would never have been an empire otherwise.
But a bit less of the "we" if you please.
At the time most of my ancestors would have been half starved as well, and probably most of yours unless you come from a very privileged background.

its a royal we as in the British empire builders who were routinely ruthless. Yes we (or certain we's) got very rich by raping foreign countries. My ancestors were all farmers, so ate fairly well.
