I have a Main Combi 30 Eco boiler which is three years old with a 24hr electro mechanical timer. I would like to change to a wireless thermostat. What's the best one for this boiler; I have been told anything about £100 would be suitable? Can anyone recommend a fitter in my area (Nottingham) and any indication how much they may charge?

Many thanks :D

They generally are around £100 and any single channel programmable timer or seperate timeclock and stat will do the job.

Are you any good with electrics? Wiring heating controls is a doddle if you are.

Hello SaladFingers

Thank you for answering my query. I can change a fuse/rewire a plug but wouldn't attempt anything else as my knowledge of electrics is more than limited. Having researched thermostats on the web I see they are easy to do but not for this lady. :(

The boiler is in my airing cupboard with shelves in front, so to access it I am stooping under the shelving in a very limited space. I know it was my decision to have the boiler out of the way rather than taking up space in my kitchen, but I work irregular hours/days and think a wireless thermostat would be far more convenient for my needs.

I have been looking at the Honeywell CMT927 which seems to be a pretty good buy!

I have TRVs in every room except the bathroom towel rail. What I didn't mention is I am putting my heating on manually rather than it coming on automatically and this is because it is in such an inconvenient position and because of my irregular work hours/days. I therefore need a stat/timer where I can access it far easier as I will be constantly changing the hours it comes on according to my work. Plus it would be nice to awaken to a warm room instead of a cold one!
