Hi all,
I have a couple of question that I sure you will consider as daft, but I can't see to find the answer.
I am installing an aluminium radiator which as bushes to allow for the fitting df the valves on each side. The left side use bushes that tighten anti-clockwise, whist the right has bushes that tighten clockwise, yet the male fittings that inset into the bushes both tighten clockwise - meaning that as you tighten the left side your are apply a force that actually undoes the bush. I simply don't understand why this would be the case - can someone explain?
I am also aware that aluminium threads can be quite soft and easy to damage if over tightened. I take it that a turn of PTFE tape on the threads of the bushes, valve fittings and plugs/bleed valve, should be used? I have hand tightened all of the above, then tightened everything approx 1/4 of a turn - I take if that this should be sufficient?
The only issue I have is with the top blanking plug that appears to need be tightened with a waking big Allen key, which I don't have one beg enough (looks like it will be around 15mm!) Is there a tool of this other than buy a big Allen key, and does anyone know if they are a standard size, and what exact size it might be?
Many thanks
Chris
