Triton mixer shower

I'm trying to fitting a Triton mixer shower, I'm not sure if I've the correct brass fitting, or how to fit it correctly.

The shower comes with a "dog leg" variable male connector, the fibre washer joins it to the shower, it's the other end I'm not 100% with, I've got a strait connector 15mm compression 1/2inch female. do I just wrap 8" or so of ptfe (I got the thin stuff) around the male dog leg and screw it in about 3/4 of the thread?

Having recently fitted one of these with the useless dog legs and Triton being a wunch of bankers when you speak to them (on a premium phone line!) I feel I can offer a bit of help.

There is a knack to it. Put plenty of PTFE on, you'll need a fair bit as it's the only thing that will seal against the 1/2inch, stupid design, should use a tapered connector really and then you could use a rubber washer but still...

Fit the first one, screwing it in all the way, then fit the other one and screw it in until it stops - they probably won't line up so make a note of where it stops. Take it out, re-PTFE and then turn until just about level with the other connector, try the shower bar to see if it's level, if not keep turning in tiny amounts until it is. If you have to back the connector off to line up it *will* leak.

You might have to have several goes to make it water tight and you might want to try the first one a few times to find the ideal position for the shower bar on the wall/height etc so that your pipe exit is hidden by the chrome covers. Good luck!

Edit to add: Use a wallplate as above, I would next time and check over a period of several hours when you think it is water tight, mine were weeping after 5 hours but dry before hand.

Thanks, I was thinking along those lines but then thought NO!! that is far to complicated, there must be a simpler way, the 15mm compression joint will be in the wall, should I ditch the copper olives in favour of brass?

Am I correct in using fibre washers for these connections, I cant get it to stop dripping, albeit very slowly.

You should have 2 rubber washers that come with the bar mixer.

The fibre ones supplied are, like the dog legs useless. Swap them for rubber.
