I wanted to add this, although the paintpod is not new to the market any more, it might be useful to some one who is thinking of buying and looking for a review as it is still on the market.
I bought a paintpod a year ago when I had my previous house, and from the word go, I have had perfect results every time. I think the people who dont arent using it correctly or want it to bleed or something.
The paint is not really more expensive, you have to buy it in 5 litres rather than 2.5 litres at a time, but it's still only works out the same price and in some cases the paints are £16.98 for 2.5 litres.
There is no mess, no putting the roller in a tray, no drips, constant feed, I don't see what can be a problem with that. If you are thinking of buying one, give it a go. Don't buy one if you can't afford it, use traditional roller etc and be prepared for drips, extra time etc

Same as the previous poster I have used this and would like to put forward my opinion of the PaintPod Compact.
Picked one up last year when B&Q were giving them away with the purchase of any Dulux product, I opted for the 5ltr White paintPod paint which at the time was only £24.99.
Moving into a new house I have just used it for the 1st time (it has sat in the garage as I've not painted anything since I got it), setup only took a couple of mins with a quick skip through the instructions.
Used the pouring spout to empty some paint into a small container for cutting in, I didn't opt for the PaintPod brush, I used a traditional brush, some have said that the PaintPod paint is thin, but I found it went on with conventional brush perfectly, no difference from normal Dulux IMO.
Onto the roller after cutting in, as the walls were bare ready for papering I tested a small area on the wall before starting the ceiling, went on no problem, and you get used very quickly to pressing the button to release more paint, if you imagine dipping your traditional roller into a tray, that was the timesacale i was using between pressing the trigger, no need to stop uising the roller, just press the trigger every min or so depending on how quick you roller..
No splashes whatsoever, with a traditional roller and tray I normally come away covered in specks of paint, not so with the PaintPod and I was painting fairly quickly, double bedroom ceiling was done in 30 mins and that was counting the cutting in with a couple of tricky corners.
Onto cleaning up, you still have to wash out the roller head, but the supplied tap adaptor for cleaning the tubes out was ideal, sit in the sink with tap running and couple of mins later was as good as new, roller head itself was the same as a traditional, and still had to be washed out by hand and left to dry though..
My only concern was the weight of the roller head, painting a fairly large ceiling at a steady pace was beginning to show on the arm/wrist, I don't think that would be an issue with walls though, which incidentally I think would be painted very fast indeed with the PaintPod, I only took 30mins to do a ceiling as I had to keep moving my ladder, with no restriction a wall would be so much quicker.
Paint coverage? For my double bedroom ceiling I guess I used about a ltr of the 5ltr tub, I reckon it'll be touch & go whether I can do the entire house (2 bedrooms, VERY large livingroom,kitchen, hallway) with the one 5ltr tub I have, which is a pity because I fully intend using normal Dulux paint in the PaintPod when its empty, and sad as it is I'm looking forward to finding out if it works.

Just used mine for the first time to paint a very small wall in the kitchen. I must say it ticks all the boxes. No Splashes or Specks of paint on my hands or arms. Cleans up pretty well on its own. Takes away the pain of painting with a roller. Highly recommended! BTW got mine for £17.99 on that popular auction site. (can't think of it's name ATM)

I was given one as a Christmas present and having examined it I took it straight back. Reasons:
-I don't like the results - patchy and thin-looking
-if you are on a water meter it costs a fortune to wash out
-it's a palaver
-the roller head weighs a ton
-if you use anything other than Dulux paintpod paint, it clogs it up
...in short, it's a gimmick and I don't like gimmicks
In fact, I have never seen any professional decorator use one. What does that tell you?!

I can see why a pro decorator may NOT want to use this system. Simply trying to change the color of the paint during a job could be a problem. You would have to go through 2 10min clean ups plus dry everything before starting to use your next color. What if you need to be in and out of the job in a few hours?
I found today that you need to be 100% dry before starting your next job otherwise you end up with a few drips.
My first job with the unit is now almost complete with no complaints. No paint plastered over my head, face, arms or hands.
I will use again.

Pro decorators and diy decorators have very different needs.
If I were a pro, I would be very good at painting ceilings and walls, I would be quick, I would know all the little tricks to make it easier etc, I may even enjoy doing it or at least tolerate it well as it would be my job. If I were worth my salt I wouldn't need a paintpod (which is aimed squarely at the diy market).
But I'm not a pro I'm a diyer. I'm not very good or quick and I find it a pain in the rear. I spill paint on the floor sometimes. I get splashed. My steps are narrow and have a narrow shelf so I either have to use a mini roller or get up and down the ladder every 3 or 4 minutes. If there's a product which will alleviate some of these issues and make things a little easier for me (like the paintpod) then I'm all for it.
I work in IT, I don't need wizards to configure my equipment for me but I still think they're a good idea as they help people not so IT literate as others.

Having said all that dcdec, when I give my mum advice with her PC and she ends up taking my brother's (estate agent) advice instead, it does grind my gears.
Make no mistake though, the help and advice of professionals, like yourself, on this site is greatly appreciated. I've lost count of the times I've been totally stumped and DIYNot members have solved my problems with generously offered advice.
