What is the best way to revive my trampled grass

If you still have grass, lawn feed that contains nitrogen. If the grass has gone rake in grass seeds and roll, keep it watered until it recovers.

Aeration is the job to help heavily trafficked areas such as a commonly used route to the shed etc. You can do this by hand over a small area or hire a corer for larger lawns.

Exactly what just been said. Hollow coring is the way to go. Compaction will encourage weeds like plantago major, moss etc as the drainage becomes poor. If possible, dont cut the affected area as much to let the grass leaf grow or if cutting is a must, raise the hight of your cut.
