For reasons beyond my understanding, the last two meters of my hot water feed to my shower are 22mm. Had I realised how short the change was I would have ripped it out and ran it all in 15mm
If theres a reason for it to be 22mm, I dont know it, not that I know much

Thanks for the replies. I'm not sure I understand the plumbing jargon is a wibble the same length as a STOPCOCK?
I am trying to fit a thermostatic shower I have the main valve but the outlets appear to be an inch maybe 3/4 but all the other pipe work in the house is 15mm
I was assuming that it was better to step the pipe diameter up before it got to the shower as in my mind it feels that to go from 15mm to an inch would not be good
Hence the question.

I'd step them up where it's easiest.
Pipe sizing is all about flow & pressure. In simple terms, as water flows along a pipe, there is friction that causes a pressure drop - the higher the flow rate & smaller the pipe size, the higher the pressure drop per length of pipe. So if you have high flow rates, and/or low pressures (such as is common in the hot water supply to a bath with a vented cylinder) then a larger pipe size may be needed.
There is a second consideration, in that high water velocities can cause some problems - in particular, noise. So that may also require increasing the pipe size.
In one case, I've connected 15mm to a 22mm fitting by using an endfeed 15mm - 22mm male fitting* and putting the 22mm end directly into the fitting, which is of course, exactly what the part is made for.
* AFAIK, they are available in two forms. Both have a 15mm socket, but at the 22mm end you can have a socket to take 22mm pipe, or a male spigot that will go into 22mm fittings.
