extension leads guide + help

OK John thanks again ... Regarding my making of extension lead what is the best cable to use for the 13amp plug? I take it 3 core flex with a minimum of 1mm wire or any 3 core flex above this size wud do?
If you want it to be able to carry 13A, 1.25mm² is the very smallest you can use, but 1.5mm² is preferable (or, obviously, larger if you wanted!).

Kind Regards, John

NO. The minimum size of cable for an extension lead is 1.5 mm sq.

Which reference table has you used to determine this fact - may I ask?

C'mon Winston. Stop being coy.

Tell us why you believe it is 1.5. And do tell us why you edited your post...

And do tell us why you're so strongly anti-euro? As if BS7671 is entirely the fault of Brussels...

I thought 1.5mm sq was the minimum size for 13A, it seems I'm wrong. Even so 1.5 mm sq makes sence.

I sometimes edit a post when I reread it and see a spelling or grammatical error. Can't recall why I edited this one though.

I'm not anti-euro particularly but am anti stupidity such as calling the mains voltage the wrong value.

No - it has already been established that our voltage used to be in the range 226V - 254V and now it is 216V - 253V, and that you don't get it.

OK I'm done with this topic. Mains UK volts is 240 3000 watts Max on 13 amp extension lead. 13 amp extension cable is either 1.2 or 1.5 mm2 if your using a heavier load then 1.5. Very easy common sense. All information from 3 electricians and 2 electrical stores. So to save all hints and digs at who's right and whos wrong on here just remember That people like myself dont want, need or understand detail upon detail.
We just want as simple answer/opinion to a basic problem that's it. Nothing more, nothing less. So I'm finished with this forum and topic.
Thank you
Goodnight

Take care
