Positive Discrimination - Positive Action

A thread like this is a great way to unwind before a hefty weeks work.
I sincerely regret trading insults with you now. I could have kept quiet and left you to make a t**t of youself, all on your own.

I thought you'd be out on the streets by now hanging out with the bro's and jibing the white boys.

What? In the multicultural badlands of.....................................................the Dordogne???

Merlot in hand.

Big Tone, do you remember Monty Python and the Holy Grail? Remember the 'Black Knight'? :D :D
 Yes I do Cajar. :D

But I'll keep going because trying to get the right link, (still using a Smart phone), is like pulling teeth.

I'll just post the link without faffing and maybe he'll get the message. Does Positive Action discriminate? Yes or no?

Good. It's working this time.

But it doesn't apply between people of different colour because that is discrimination.
Another dopey plonker. Discrimination and EHRC is not just about ethnicity.
God give me strength to deal patiently with imbeciles.

If your god could send some intelligence your way too, that'd be great. Ps not to be confused with verbosity.
You're confused.
When have I ever suggested that I have a god?

How do you equate pointing out to you that you were under a misapprehension and that EHRC does not only deal with racial equality, but all sorts of other equality as well, with verbosity?

God give me strength to deal patiently with imbeciles.

You have drawn a conclusion that my remark about your blathering posting style is related to a non-existent retort by you to a comment I never said. Interesting. Proof indeed there is no god perhaps? none would be so cruel to gift you such a voracious passion for typing without the intellect to go with it.

Are your posts all really just cut and pasted from a different thread somewhere else? would explain alot.

Positive Action does not discriminate. Discrimination is illegal.
How many times?

Yet earlier in the thread , you yourself conceded that "Positive Discrimination and Positive Action were one and the same thing.. So therefore it follows that "Positive Action" does indeed discriminate.

"A housing advice service has no White employees, even though it is located in an area where there is a high White population. When a vacancy arises, there are two candidates of equal merit. One candidate is Muslim and the other is White. The advice service could choose to offer the job to the White candidate under the positive action provisions, so that the Muslim candidate could not claim religious discrimination."

Is that discrimination?

I simply substituted Muslim for white, in the text of the positive action website. Original is here:

"A housing advice service has no Muslim employees, even though it is located in an area where there is a high Muslim population. When a vacancy arises, there are two candidates of equal merit. One candidate is Muslim and the other is not. The advice service could choose to offer the job to the Muslim candidate under the positive action provisions, so that the non-Muslim candidate could not claim religious discrimination."

I agree Brigs, waste of breath. But I'll give it one more try...

He could redeem himself in my eyes if he just gave me a straight yes or no without resorting to "it's against the law and I always agree with current policy" type response.

Well yes, that's fine if you think the law is right. But, as we all know the law is often an a$$, as you discovered after page 13 RH.

So if they got it wrong before what makes you so sure they've got it right now? Try and think for yourself instead of blindly following laws without questioning them.

If you are black man Rogue, and I honestly couldn't care less if you are or not, think of Rosa Parks before you next declare anything along the lines of 'it's the law and I always follow current policy'. ;)

Again, I am asking YOU if YOU think PA is discriminatory? Yes or No?

Yes I saw that thanks Cajar. It's hiding behind the law and his support/endorsement of the law on PA. It's not coming from him!

Subtle and very different to whether it's what he, impartiality, believes - otherwise it really wouldn't be hard to say a straight yes or no. That's because he's not stupid and knows either straight answer leaves him shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic...

Yes or no RH? Do you think PA discriminates? Yes or No? http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1KHMO14KuJk

What you are not saying speaks volumes more about you than the longwinded posts, replies and anecdotes, references, cross-references, links, quotes etc.

So, positive action and positive discrimination. Still no straight answer from Coathanger.

What about affirmative action as it's called in South Africa. Presumably that's legal there.

The effects are quite scary, and this is what Coathanger is proposing for The UK. I know that standards plummeted there after A A was introduced. Before he rubbishes my opinion, I have been many times, and witnessed it over the years.

Would never fly SAA any more, after entry requirements were lowered to let in more black pilots - BA every time.

Just to be clear on what he didn't quite say Cajar.

Positive Action does not discriminate. Discrimination is illegal.
How many times?
See what he did there?

Okay. Here's an example, albeit the best I can muster at this hour.

Que: "Do you ever speed on the roads Tony?"

Ans: "Speeding is dangerous. I do not act dangerously".
How many times   "

See it now?

How much easier would it have been to give an answer starting yes or no without repeating the question???

But he didnt; just as I knew he wouldn't. Neither a 'yes' or 'no' appeared in his answer. (Just like my phony reply/example given here).

It's 'Political Speak'. The very same Bu11 $ h1t we all hate getting from our politicians.

Here's another thought. Did anyone else question why he eluded to why he might just leave The Board the other day, and why.....?

yes I agree he is prevaricating tone, although in my opinion not very skillfully, as he has given enough to nail him to the wall with on the critical points. have to disagree with your other statement though, if he wasn't so stupid he wouldn't be in this position. I still maintain he is either copying and pasting or the debate is being relayed via a third party with much lost in translation. when the third party is unavailable to respond, rh trots out insults to tread water.
