Eeny meeny miny mo, Is it the time for Clarkson to go??

Nah, Clarkson should stay, I think it's time for the PC witch hunters to booger off instead!

For the record, I am not racist and don't believe that it has any place in society but this was not a racist incident, not a hate crime, just a gobsh!te being a gobsh!te and, essentially, as the incident was never broadcast it was a private thought/comment.

I think it has feck all to do with anyone outside the BBC and the people that were there are the time, it was not broadcast so is nowt to do with anyone else.

That rhyme has been used by older people for a long time, its something we learnt as a child. Its not that easy to forget rhymes like that.

Perhaps he should have been saying ip ****e dog ****e instead.

Apparently, as stated by an 'authoritative' person on the radio, saying the word itself is NOT illegal.

Only if someone is actually offended by it there and then can any action be taken.
So, unless the camera man or other staff who actually heard him say/mumble/pretend not/pretend to say it were offended then it matters not.
That the Daily Mirror highlighted the incident is merely trouble-making for whatever reason.

As with Jimmy Carr, my only gripe is with the grovelling apology rather than explaining the situation.

I agree with most of the above comments, I didn't know about the apology, yes he's a gobshite, as a biker I've been the butt of his sarcasm on more than one occasion, but he's funny with it.

I believe he owns the show, but stand to be corrected, his show is one of the UK's biggest exports, I'm not saying we can't afford to lose him rather it would be a shame for him to go..

As mattylad says, I was taught that rhyme as a child (guess that makes me old  ). As for Clarkson, it was in private and no one would have been offended if it had not appeared in the papers. So although I think Clarkson is a bit of a d*ckhead, I don't think he should be sacked over this particular incident.

I'm not a big fan of Clarkson, and Top Gear seems to be juvenile garbage these days (bring back William Woollard  ). However, he gets up the noses of every lefty in this country. For this, he should be knighted.

There was also the time when he decked someone who tried to mug his wife (if I recall correctly). We need more people who aren't afraid to be silenced or get stuck in when the need arises.

From the clip I heard he was only saying the rhyme he had learned as a youngster and was trying NOT to say ' ******'.

It's hard to unlearn rhymes that have been imprinted, even if aware that they need to be changed. It takes a conscious effort and just because that is the word that springs to mind, it doesn't necessarily make one racist.

Using it wilfully is of course different, but zi don't think J C was here.
