Response Globalguard Review

You will not go wrong with SRD-470 machine its great value BUT when it comes to cameras regarless of what DVR we fit, we always use Samsung.....

You many of these smaller UK outfits offering nitedevil, alien , all sorts of silly names and its purely chinese rubbish with a sticker put on it and a spec to match samsung - Take note!! ( compare side by side and its immediately apparent).

For Domes go for SCV-2081 or bullet SCO-2080 ....identical cams just different packages....Ring 01291 421111, speak with Max, they'll price match any UK official stockist...watch out for the non uk samsung,,,,,,I recently hit this when buying a visonic alarm - faulty and visonic UK would not offer any support!

Thanks again, where would you advise buying the alarm and the CCTV.

Also is visonic the best wireless alarm you can buy or are there anymore I should consider.

Good question, I think the Samsung app is called ipolis...basically dvr has LAN connection which needs to wire into your router...you need to confirgure router to allow external access called "port forward" and then u can use internet explorer and log in dorect via your ip address...

Ok so the dvr needs to be connected to my router and all cameras connected to the dvr.? That could be difficult I wanted all cameras up high and minimal mess therefore it could be tricky. Internet connection is only downstairs everything is wireless.

What's your opinion on wireless CCTV

Remeber not to mount your cams up too high...sometimes you can end up with seeing only the tops of peoples heads!!

Forget wireless cctv...there's nothing on a sensible budget thats worthy....you can add wireless transmitters to convert wired cams but its pricey.....

There's always a way to run cables:)

Wireless alarms are fine but not cctv...recommend Visonic all day long....

Hi once again alarm has been received however due to other commitments I won't be installing for a few weeks, that said I've looked at the installers guide and after picking myself up off the floor I have a question....

Would you position contacts pirs bellbox then enroll or enroll then position? I can't seem to see any reference to it in the guide. It looks all confusing but hopefully once following the miniature flowcharts i will find my feet.

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

Rgds

I would fix sensors and then learn in.......you could do it the other way around but if your not fitting for a few weeks I'd leave it.....

What alarm did you go for?

Powermax complete with pet PIRs, I am not on leave until end of the month when I will install.

So you would position them, fix to wall them enrol not the other why round???

Hi, I would go for the powermax as the powermaster really is very specialised and a lot more money.....The powermax complete kit is a good starting point...it has three zonw arming and you can add the Powerlink 2 module for internet connectivity...Ive bought quite a bit off the guys below as have many on this forum...

You can add cameras BUT they are not that good and extremly high cost for what they are.....I would fit a separate samsung cctv system such as the SRD-470 if you need four channels....The Samsung Ipolis app is superb!!

Basically with the above you will not better better quality product...
Hope this helps

Matt

I found powermax pro wireless alarm. Is this a new version and has gsm module and ip, I think it means we may not need to buy powerlink2 module and gsm module?

What are your thoughts on this kit?

Thanks,

Ash

Hi, I'm currently fitting a powermax complete kit :) Very good system.......If your propertly has internet access then I would take the Powerlink 2 as this allows smart phone access if lan cable is connected to panel.

I would got for complete kit as its better value than pro and you get an external siren.

Very helpful and suggested having Powermax complete with powerline2. I am not going for GSM module as I can use PSTN and IP as two options for communicating alerts to me.

Thanks Matt, yes its basically the systems you recomonded. Also I am buying keypad as you mentioned. I am thinking of not buying key fobs and ask if I can get keypad instead. In my opinion key fobs can be risky if they are lost and found by an intruder.

Regards,

Ash
