Hopefully can come to some sort of agreement with the guys who did the work on our house so we can avoid going down the solicitor route, so i'll be needing a good idea of price for this job:

Basically to board the walls & then skim. The height is 2.4mtr & the length of the wall is 7.0mtr. It juts out at right angles for the chimney breast but that's it, other than that it's a straight wall with no fiddly bits. They only boarded one side of the chimney & the chimney itself, so perhaps 2mtr of it was just skimmed (not boarded) & a 1ft(ish) 2mtr(ish) strip in there was bonded & then skimmed.

Any more info required or photos then just ask.

What would be a typical price for this work?

Thanks.

What was the background, and how were the boards to be fixed?

Chimney breast something like 400x 1600?

More than 4 sockets? Basically the length of your house?

Wall lights that will throw shadow on wall at an angle?

How was the bit not boarded treated?

Really? That much? I would have expected it to be a lot less than this.
I think that's perhaps his way of saying he needs more information without saying "please can i have [this] [that] & [the other] information". We got the whole room done plus ceiling for a tad over £1600.

Anyway i HAD the measurements but it seems i've left them at the house. To answer some questions though:

background: they chipped away the plaster to the left & on the chimney breast to expose the brickwork behind but left the vast majority elsewhere.

There were 2 sockets they had to workaround.

No wall lights.

The bit not boarded wasn't treated it seems. No anti sulphate wash, no tanking, nothing. Just bonded & skimmed.

Gutted as i wanted to get the measurements to you tonight. I'll have to do that tomorrow. In the meantime, here's the layout of the room:

Not the best photos but gives you an idea.

You can see the 'strip' to the right of the chimney breast that wont dry out - it wasn't treated properly. Also a bit that wont dry out in the corner of the window wall.

I'll get the measurements tomorrow so you can give a better idea of price.

Ok i have the measurements:

Starting from the far left, the wall is 2.4mtr high

The wall to the left of the chimney breast is 2.67mtr wide.

The chimney breast then juts out at a right angle by 0.38mtr.

The chimney breast is then 1.49mtr wide & then obviously juts back in at a right angle by 0.38mtr.

You can see the socket to the left of the chimney breast & there is one on the right side actually on the right side of the chimney breast itself.

The wall to the right of the chimney breast is then 2.63mtr wide.

The bonded strip you can see to the right is 0.23mtr wide/high.

So the question is a quote to:

* Dot & dab 2400x1200x9.5 (yes they used 9.5mm) board to the LEFT of the chimney breast & the actual chimney breast itself.

* Use bonding in that 23cm strip i mentioned.

* Skim the whole lot (the wall i just mentioned).

* They also 'tanked' a 2ft band from the base of the wall to the LEFT of the chimney breast.

How much would that cost?
