Sash window cord - waxed or unwaxed?

I've been having a look at new sash cord, and I've noticed it's available in both waxed and unwaxed.

There's not a great difference in price.

Is it preferable to have one over the other?

they will both stretch over time,but i prefer the waxed versions,they seem to run smoother on the sash wheels,and do tend to last a lot longer then the non waxed versions.

I believe that pre-stretched cord should be used to minimise this problem.

well ive never used it,and i bet it still stretches,especially when its attached to a 29lb weight.
