Anybody ever seen a panel mount version of the female half?

Can't say I have! Given that I don't think I've ever seen that pin arrangement on anything other than in-line flex connectors, I can't really see why such an animal would exist.

Kind Regards, John

It should exist because I could use one.
I know the feeling - but suspect that, just as when I'm in that position, you're going to be unlucky :-)

It could be that you're going to have to utilise some ingenuity and improvisation to panel-mount an in-line one (not all that difficult, I would think) - either that or bring a cable out through the panel; and use the connector 'as intended'!!

Kind Regards, John

I'm sure there's a reason you don't want to ... but the obvious answer I would've thought is to swap the male, and use a C14 / C13 arrangement.

(can never remember which is which)

Indeed. In fact, more generally, they are any number of 3-pin plugs/sockets which can have one half panel-mounted. However, I didn't even bother mentioning that, since BAS knows that as well as we do, and I therefore assumed (as you have) that there was a reason he didn't want to take that approach. Maybe he has several things with such male plugs on them, and wants to be able to plug any of them into a panel-mounted female - or something like that.

That is it.
Fair enough. As I wrote last night, if it were me (and assuming the enclosure in question were deep enough), I think I would improvise panel mounting of a standard female half. Thinking aloud, my first thought would probably be to wrap a thin piece of aluminium around the connector ('clamped on' with a tightening screw), with a couple of attached flanges to attach to the panel. Together with an appropriate rectangular hole in the panel, that ought to do it.

It's a "it would be handy if I could get..." situation, not a "I really need a..." one, so yes, whilst I'm sure I could do something like that, it definitely comes under the CBA heading. ;)

PS -
a thin piece of aluminium
- quite a lot of force is needed to mate those couplers, I very much doubt a thin piece of aluminium would be man enough.

Yes, I can understand that. Do I take it that you would not be happy with a short piece of cable coming through the panel, with a fermale in-line connector on the end?

That depends on how tightly the 'clamp screw' was done up, I suppose! If there were a problem, the 'wrap around' could be made more complicated, actually wrapping around the far end of the coupler, so one was not relying on friction. ... or one could bring some strong adhesives into the equation!

If I'm going to do that I might as well stick with a length of cable with a 10A connector on one end and a BS 1363 plug on the other.

Maybe - I obviously don't know exactly what the situation is, and what you're trying to achieve.

Nothing of any major importance, and there's no guarantee I'd do it even if I could get such a socket.

As JW2 guessed, I'm already using these connectors outside, and I've got a collection of M/F leads, and F/BS1363 leads, and items with 10A plugs. I could see how it could be handy to have somewhere to plug something in directly, and retain the "waterproof" (and robust and low profile and hard to accidentally pull apart) 10A connector for when I needed an extension.
