Flush pipe from cistern just seems to stick into back of toilet bowl and its not that tight a fit. Should there be any sealing going on? Or because the water is dropping and rushing into the bowl its flowing different way so no chance of leak?

Should be a rubber seal. Seal pushes into toilet bowl and then the pipe pushes into the seal

No not included with either the toilet pan or cistern. Guess I better buy one.
