Heating circulator incorrectly sized?

What is an ideal setting for the auto bypass valve?

I know this will be different for each system but how does one go about setting one up correctly??

Actually I turned down the chance to go to boarding school. I wasn't offered the chance until a few of the girls in my year had, ahem, developed.

Wasn't going to give up those "opportunities" :p.

I've obviously missed something, but there seems to be a fair amount of hostility on here.

This can be calculated, from memory, using your pump curve and some other numbers. I remember trying to do so myself. But in the end, I found it more effective to set it by hand. I used these instructions, which I believe are taken from the Honeywell or Danfoss instructions. The original thread is quoted also.

1. With boiler/system cool, set valve to max.
2. Switch heating system/boiler/pump on.
3. Reduce setting until valve is just open (by-pass/valve starts to get hot).
4. Turn adjuster back (anti-clockwise) one revolution (ie. valve closes).
5. Valve will automatically open when system flow reduces.

Why don't you rip it all out and fit electric storage heaters or Baxi Brazilia slimlines in each room?

Alas, you're not alone Dan in making an error of judgement when facing the prospect of seeing a large pair of t.ts every day!! But at least the two chaps I work with bring in a packet of Hobnobs now & again.

What's happened to the OP?? Has he bolted after FINALLY having the bypass valve checked & unable to face the flack by the 'Professional'?? Or is he & DH taken off with the family silver???!!!
 
To be fair DH has contributed some useful information on this forum over the years , what I don't understand is the fact he ridiculed the very member who has given him some of the information that he writes about on here.;)
