I don't think the 4 series did get the update - but we'd long since stopped specifying them by then. Vaillant probably had the ali version in the wings. Never a big seller.

I'm curious to know if the ally 400 is any good - does anyone know if they've sorted the modulation gremlins out?

Gaswizard its a HA property not mine, If i could get if sorted 100% and be able to claim my money back
then i would risk what little money i have.

Mogget, I have health issues and had to pack up work, yet do not seem elegible for any benefits other
than the basic rate. I dont drink or smoke etc so my outgoings are low. The issue is i am home all
day everyday and fan heaters would be too expensive, although my bills have increased approx £20 a
month since they installed this damn boiler.

D_Hailsham Siemens room stat no model name. Drayton MA1 valve in the airing cupboard.

He turned the heating one upto 68/70? and we now only get heating where both dials set to
60 we used to get water 99% of the time and heating rarely.

In that case your best bet is to negotiate with the HA until it's fixed, it's your only option really. I'm sorry I can't help in any other way but you're not allowed to mend it in any form of rented accommodation, and with the greatest of respect after four pages we are no closer to diagnosing the fault.

You say your gas bills have gone up since the boiler was fitted a couple of months ago - do you think this is because the weather has got colder or house is warmer etc.

I think at this stage (and I speak from a tired and somewhat inebriated state), a letter of complaint with the intention of withholding payment in lieu of third party costs would be reasonable.

Yeah Dan, Going into their office tomorrow to make an official complaint and to stress that if that guy comes back i wont be letting him in.

I really have the urge to get it ripped out and say i think i have a gas leak whilst dropping the boiler onto their counter.

Mogget, The bill has increased before we even had the heating on, Initially we only used the hot water and the issues we reported
back then was the pump running for hours and hours and even switching on at 3am when the water and heating had been off
for several hours also.

Timer went off at 10:30pm, at 3 am (ish) the pump would kick in for no reason. With just the hot water on the pump would run for
many hours, the flame would kick in and heat the water. Go off for 2 or 3 minutes and then kick back in for another 20 minutes
even though the water was already hot.

The "guy" said thats OK it depends how efficient your system is.. the old system was very efficient, everytime they serviced
it they commented on that. Hot water would heat up and stay hot for a long time.

It doesnt cool down within 2 or 3 minutes and need heating again.

What and who would i be looking for to get a report on the system and why its not working as intended?

Does anyone specialise in that and at what cost?

Birmingham area if anyone on here is close?

Thanks for your time..

Yeah Dan, Going into their office tomorrow to make an official complaint and to stress that if that guy comes back i wont be letting him in.
I hope it's not too late, but your complaint must be in writing and you should get a signature (on a copy) from whoever accepts it.

Only verbal at this point, Supervisor is coming out tomorrow.

So we shall see what they say. Today we have hot water only and no heating.

Just had to turn the water off to get the heating on. Within 1 minute of moving the water heating
slider to off the boiler fired up and started heating the rads.

I will see if they will tell me what the problem us " if " they can fix it.
