Swapping Part Of Gate Valve ?

It's not a surrey flange, it's a warix and he hasn't mentioned anything about a pump?? Even if it was a surrey it still begs the question about a pump and was there a plan to fit one, that would explain the reason for the gate valve.

Sorry I am late, have been away.

You guys know your stuff. Yes, originally there was a Aquaforce pump for the shower. But to be honest it worked for a while, but started to groan and was hellish noisy, in the end it just hummed really loud ?
I removed it from the line.
The hot water pressure is not good throughout the house.
I had two large plastic tanks in the loft - one leaked so I removed it - they were inline with a small pipe joining the two - 1970's 4 bed.

The shower/bathroom was done in 2002, with a new boiler and hot tank.

I am wondering if the gate valve to the shower has jammed sort of slightly closed ?

Any further thoughts please ?

Has it always been bad, ever since the pump was removed? From the sounds of it, that's why a pump was put in.

Unless the gate valve was moved i.e. it was closed then opened again recently and the flow was subsequently restricted, then it wouldn't normally close on it's own. That all being said, no reason not to remove and see if things improve.

It sounds like it all needs looked at. How high above everything is the cold cistern in the loft? It may need a larger supply pipe to the cylinder and to the outlets. Most of the supply pipework should be at least 22mm as far as possible, for a gravity system to provide good flow.

Is the hot supply on a 'up & over' for part of the house & someone has fitted a Warrix to eliminate drawing air through the expansion/vent pipe. If the HW pressure is poor, do you have limited head from your water 'tank'.
I call it a tank, always have always will...........Some old farts on here call it a 'cistern', but you only fit cisterns above WC's......

Always known it as a CWSC but sometimes talk about a cold or hot tank too, just what springs to mind at the time I guess, not really worth getting into tho .....

Nope BG. System water was fine, we've nice water here in God's country. PH & PPM was checked prior to the install. Also, a Hot & Cold flush after the install, 1/2ltr of quality inhibitor & job done. Another happy customer & boiler service for the next 10-15 years.

Oh I did use the pressure washer to wash the Range Rover PM Saturday. Does that count?

Now, a Range Rover is a car, I'll tell you that BG - save you Googling it!!!
