Not the best on electrics. Two gone at the same time...

One is a standard bulb the other a halgen bulb type fitting. I understand the wiring goes from one to the other.

Is it possible that one faulty fitting will cause the next one to stop working? If its the next one in the chain or something. How to determine this?

All other lights in the room work ok.

Recently had 3 halogen downlight lamps fail in the kitchen at the same time. My initial thought was maybe a faulty fitting. As there are 7 downlighters in there I took 3 good ones from the other side of the room and fitted them.
They all worked. Just sheer coincidence that the 3 on the left failed at the same time.

Replaced all the original ones with a new set and kept the working old ones as spares.

Triedd that. Took all bulb out and put new one in.

Also, its one normal ceiling rose not working too.

If these are SELV fittings, it is possible that the lamp has not failed, but you have a dodgy SELV lamp holder which makes and breaks the connection to the lamp.

If this is the case, you will see pitting on the pins of the removed lamp (not shiny) where arcing has occurred.

Although the lamp may still work, it needs to be discarded as you don't want to put a lamp with pitted pins into a new lamp holder or the chances are it will damage the new lamp holder.
