Air in hot water

we have a largish bungalow, with an oil fired boiler with hot water tank in loft. We have two bathrooms along with kitchen sink and another in the utility room.

I keep having issues with water in the hot water system, every so often the hot water taps will spurt and you can hear air in the system. And on occasions the taps have no water or a very slow flow with lots of air. What could be causing this. And what is the fix? There does not appear to be any leaks.

You will probably find that the expansion pipe is dipping into the water in the header tank in the attic, which is syphoning air and water to your taps.

This can be caused by the cylinder feed only being partially open. The pull from the taps being more than the supply available.
