Yea it is illogical, but have you seen the back of a BG FCU?! Logic is something that does not seem to apply to BG.

The seller must of been mad, a six lamp fitting rarely needs 40 watt lamps, I usually use 25 watt or there near equivalent, though the lampholder style may limit whats available

what bulbs are in it, sounds excessive, would need to be like 18 x 20 watt bulbs.
maybe swap to 10 watt lamps or get a 1000 watt dimmer

I think i may just order a 1000w dimmer. Saves me having to replace all the bulbs.

I'm glad I don't have to pay your electricity bill, 504 watts is ridiculous for a living room. Replace the lamps with 5 watt LEDs. Total 60 watts and you won't need a dimmer.

Ordered some led bulbs going to ditch the dimmer. Thanks for your advice everyone!

I have mentioned this before and got slated, by the same people that go on about following manufacturers instructions.

But you should ignore the dribblings from people like that - they are barkingly mad and dangerously ignorant.
