My gutters are near as damnit 20 feet off the ground (9' 6" ceilings and a 1' gap between) and my existing ladders are nowhere near long enough. While I don't plan to do much at that height, being able to get up there to clear gutters or inspect problems seems useful so I'd like some longer ladders.

I was also wanting to get some long multi-function ladders, the ones that let you trim hedges 15' or so in their 'lamda' configuration. e.g: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001O36Y2A

This is the longest such one I can find and has maximum length 8m (24'). I think this is slightly too short for reaching my gutters according to safety guidelines, is that the case? I was wondering if by adding a stand-off and some handles/hand-rail (proper term?) I can get this to work because I really don't want to have to buy two big expensive ladders?!

It seems to me that at 30 degrees the ladder would be 22' long, can I get away with this without being overly dangerous (e.g. if I always have someone to hold the ladder)?

Nice, but ouch!

I still can't really tell what length ladder I actually need in order to inform my purchase. It seems I'm supposed to stick to the 1:4 rule i.e 75 degrees (or 15 depending how you look at it). That seems to imply my vertical height is 25' (7.7m) i.e. I lose virtually no height at all from my 8m ladder length.

That seems like I'm right on the cusp for accessing a 20' gutter unless I've missed something important?

That said, the Hailo looks quite nice: http://www.ladders4sale.co.uk/Hailo-ProfiLOT-Pedal-Adjustment-Combination-Ladders-76.asp
And this one is 10m at a more attractive price though it annoyingly doesn't list the step-ladder height: http://www.ladders4sale.co.uk/Abru-Werner-Promaster-Triple-Section-Reform-Ladders-214.asp
