School boiler

I have been asked to quote for a new boiler at a local primary school.

At present there is a Glowworm economy plus 80f .

I don't hold any commercial qualifications but as I understand it I'm allowed to work on it as there is a isolation/ lever valve between main gas pipework ( 2" screwed steel) and the appliance.

Question is , do I need to fit a emergency knock off/ isolation switch and solenoid?

If so where is best place to fit switch? Presumably outside the room which contains the boiler?

Boiler will feed two tiny rads and two wall mounted high level fan blower type things

If you need to ask these kinds of questions you sound woefully unqualified to do this work.

As I understand it you don't Lnow what your talking about and are certainly not allowed to do this work legally.

Actually, perhaps I should have suggested this be posed to the Electrics forum, as I've just realised you're probably asking about fitting an electrical isolator.. Perhaps you should turn this job down, as I'm not sure I'd be chuffed to learn that my child was attending a school where the plumber had asked on a DIY forum about doing electrical work and didn't appear to be qualified to carry it out; your friends who have their kids at this school might well agree.

If it IS electrical, and you're bent on doing the job, please get an electrician to do the electrical bits; these are potentially other people's kids' lives you're risking

It's somewhat worrying that a school is not more clued up as to their responsibilities in respect of ensuring any tradesmen are suitably qualified to carry out any work asked of them.
