Should I remove the TV aerial?

Hi,
I have a big TV aerial on the chimney, but we use satellite for watching TV, so the aerial is defunct. Im getting the chimney repointed and thinking about removing the aerial while the chap is up there. Is that a wise decision? Ill be selling the house in a few years so dont want to do anything that will be a cause of concern for the buyer. Are TV aerials defunct these days? In other words - do people tend to watch TV via satellite rather than aerials? Or should I leave the aerial as it is?

Tv aerials are far from defunct- freeview has about twice the audience of satellite
I'd leave it up unless it presents a problem to the pointing

SKY us still expensive, and the aerial can be used with an amplifier for other rooms, so best to leave well alone if you're moving in a few years.

Ah ok - glad I checked with you guys first! Its a pity becuase its a nice cottage and the aerial is a real eye sore. oh well.

Could you get it moved, or maybe get a smaller one.

An installed aerial is around £150-200

If it worries you, remove it and knock £200 of the house when you sell it

Put it in the loft and hope the buyers don't test it before they move in!

What is the problem of putting TV Aerial in Loft, ?

We have a listed property therefore we are not allowed an aerial on the chimney so ours is in the loft, never had any problems with it.
Our sky satellite dish is tucked out of sight at the corner of the property ,

(Yes alright we are criminals and have erected a satellite dish on our property such is the law regarding listed properties, one cannot put a flower basket on the front wall , that is breaking the law !!)
if there were any problems could the dish be put in the loft. ( or would we have to wait for Wi Fi Television ?

With satellite signals, you need a clear line of sight, so it won't work in the loft. If there are any issues with it's locations, it'd have to be put on a pole somewhere in the garden.

Theres already a satellite on the property which is in a discreet position round the back. So I would have thought that would make the aerial redundant becuase whoever buys the property can still watch BBC1 etc... with the satellite. They also have the option of watching Netflix etc (obviously if they pay for it).

Only if the next owner has their own satellite receiver or the OP leaves the receiver when they sell the property. How does it work with Sky when you move? I thought you left the dish but kept the receiver?
