hi.... have a 2010 fiesta titanium and the windcreen washer has gone dicky. The motor is making a noise but there is no water coming through the jets. I have cleaned the jets , the reservoir is full but no water, same with the back washer. anybody any ideas, is it a costly job to be done at the garage. sods law it's booked in for an m.o.t wednesday
cheers

Access the water bottle Mick - often it's under the wheel arch liner. The pump is visible, it's a push fit into the bottle with a rubber grommet, helped with some wash up liquid lube.
The pump has two outlets, one to the front and one to the rear screen.
You may find the pump is gunged up with soap solids or whatever and it may still be working!
Motor factors usually have the pump you need, rather than going to Ford.
John :)

hi John, i've been on internet and all posts say the pump is on the drivers side but looking at mine it's on the passenger side, anyway i think i've left it too late it's booked in for mot may as well let teh garage do it what do you think ?

with a rubber grommet

Mick, if you do get a new pump from Ford, be aware the grommet is sold separately, you may need one if yours is perishing. Part numbers...

1514079 - "Motor and pump assy"
1513781 - "Grommet"

Watch from about 0:40 to 1:40, you can see it's easy enough to get at the pump to check it for gunge/limescale...

Even easier to access if you jack it up, take the wheel off and remove the wheel arch liner too.

many thanks that looks really helpful :)

many thanks John :)
hi John... i started to do that job and my neighbour came across and said have you tried washing out the reservoir and blowing down the washer pipe. I tried this and hey presto it worked. I just put my hosepipe into the water reservoir and disconnected the pipe at the jets and blew down it whilst filling the reservoir with the hose. the gunk that came out was unbelievable, anyway all is good now. thanks for your help. :)

No worries Mick - I don't know if it applies here but washing up liquid always gunges up things.......proper screen wash rarely gives issues.
John :)

I had the screen wash fluid in my Volvo turn to blue jelly and it blocked the filter on the pump inlet. Can only assume Volvo screen wash fluid reacts with my normal Carplan stuff.
