Compression tee for imperial 15.x mm pipe

You can’t get 15mm imperial fittings. They don’t exist and have never existed. If it’s bigger than 15mm it’s most likely 22mm which you can get imperial fittings.

Jeez. Give up CW.

IS that your website someone posted a couoco of days ago?

So I cut another piece, and I still can't get the metric 15mm olive on. I don't have a precise measuring tool, but it looks like the outer diameter is about 15.5 or perhaps even 15.6mm. Where I cut the pipe now, I even struggle to get the compression nut on!
Is there a tool to 'squeeze' the copper pipe down?

And I saw that there are "imperial 1/2" olives". Does anyone know for what outer diameter of pipe they are? (My understanding is that half-inch refers to inner diameter, but my pipe seems to have quite a thick copper outside).

Thanks again!

Its imperial size as mentioned by others,imperial-metric solder adaptors are available. To use compression you need to reduce the copper pipe outside diameter. The careful use of a file then emery cloth will work.

 or get a professional in to insert a tee.

Depending when the pipework was installed, around the late 1960`s early 70`s there were some unusual thickness`s of half inch/ 15 mm copper tube around because of a shortage of copper at that time, many suppliers shipped copper tube in from abroad which was not compatable with our standard

You may struggle with the nut, but does it actually go on? Does the pipe go into the tee?

If that answer is yes to both, then get the imperial olives.

Copper pipe AFAIA, is always measured OD. Iron up and steel is ID.

Ah, just tried whether the pipe fits into the tee, and it does not! I think this is the point where I give up...

Don't feel too bad about it... I've had a number of 15mm comp fittings recently where the nuts won't side easily over standard copper tube... Christ knows where the supplier's are getting some of their stuff from these days :cautious:

I stand by my original comment.

FYI there is a pipe that is slightly bigger than 15mm, 22mm is way too big a size in this case
OP, 16mmx 1/2" coupling is what you need
Else remove the said pipe and file it down to fit 15mm fitting
