I have a 2004 Mondeo with nearly 200k miles. As per the service schedule I replaced the serpentine belt at 150k miles and kept it in the boot for emergency use. I can't see a name on the replacement, (it wasn't Ford's own) but at < 50k miles the multi-vees are badly cracked. I don't know whether it's in imminent danger of failing, I'd have thought most of the strength is in the solid flat part, with the reinforcing cords. The original Motorcraft belt looks fine.
I paid < £10 for the replacement in June 10, just been quoted £14.80 for Quinton Hazell, which sounds about equivalent for today. Ford want £35, and on internet a Continental one for £28. Maybe mine was a bad one. QH are supposed to be to OEM spec, but I'm wondering whether it's worth paying more. Not that I'm likely to keep the car another 50k miles, but curious if anybody has experience.
