Hi All,

I see that Screwf*x are now selling Milwaukee tools.

I have never owned one or used one.

Are they any good??

Thoughts??

Over rated and over priced. They were much more robust in the days of AtlasCopCo. Most of the Milwaukee cordless stuff I had (M12 and M18) drivers I've sold off; still have some M18 cordless lighting, a few heated hoodies and a cordless Bluetooth speaker but that's going on eBay soon as I prefer my Makita BT speaker.

I like the lighting, it's some of the best on the cordless market but it's expensive. A pair of M18 Rover lights cost £240 bare when I got them earlier this year, M18 Rocket Light Gen2 cost over £300 but overall the build quality is poor.

The batteries are expensive too, clearest example being their newest HD12 battery, currently around £270 compared to Bosch's 12ProCore at £170.

Customer service in the UK is terrible. I've tried to register products online with them several times for extended warranties and their website doesn't work well, their help desk don't seem to want to help either.

Their one key app is useless too, if you do go Milwaukee don't rely on their one-key or tick products to keep track of tools.

Reading back through some old posts, your comments about Atlas CopCo seem about right.

I might stick with what I know.

I had never heard of Atlas Cop Co but my very first ever sander (VSSE20E 25+ years ago) was an AEG/Atlas Cop Co.

Do ACC simply act as UK agents or are they part of the same group as AEG and Milwaukee?

ACC are their own company based in Sweden. They owned and manufactured Milwaukee tools before selling the business to Techtronic Industries (TTI), a Hong Kong/Chinese multinational who own Ryobi, AEG, Milwaukee, Vax, Stiletto, Empire, Dirt Devil and a few others.

ACC are most well known for their compressors and heavy machinery.

Ive got both 12v and 18v milwaukee brushless motor models, which are used in a joinery shop.

I think Ive had them about 3 years, they get used 5 days a week. They still work pretty well and had no real problems.

I have a set of tbe 12v brushless at home, they are quite light but have a good capacity, Ive drilled and screwed in well over 100no 100mm x 5mm screws on 1 battery charge (thats using drill and impact, not 1 tool)

I havent found them better or worse than any others.

I think Dewalt, Makita and Milwaukee are pretty similar really. Maybe it depends if you like red, yellow or blue

On the one hand I find some Milwaukee tools incredibly well specced. On the other hand I'm put off by the fact that I've worked with a few guys in the last 3 years who've had major and persistent problems with 18 volt cordless tools, mainly clicking gearboxes and failed brushless motors (a very common complaint in the USA), but also sundry battery defects and charger failures. They may have a good warranty but if you are without a tool such as your main drill because it's in for repair yet again (did I mention that the faults had been recurrent) how do you earn a living? As to the corded stuff, some of the older AEG-designed Milwaukee stuff were lemons to start with, whilst comments coming out of the USA about huge drops in quality and durability of tools like the Hole-Hawgs and recip. saws since production moved to China also raise doubts in my mind. I've had problems with other brands in the past (remember Makita's "glass" batteries?), but Milwaukee I'm really not so sure about
