If we have a 2nd vote it will ruin this country as a preaching democracy.
Do you not remember that the 2016 referendum took place after DC negotiated reforms to the EU? Leaving aside how successful he was in getting what he wanted (as that really is irrelevant), this is how it went:
DC goes off the the EU, and negotiates some reforms and concessions to the UK.
He comes back and says "
Here's the deal, do you want to remain or leave?".
So just what is undemocratic about at this point saying "
We honoured the result of the 2016 referendum. We triggered the process for leaving the EU, and here is the deal we have negotiated for leaving. Please let us know if you are happy with it, or would prefer a different way of leaving, or would prefer not to leave after all."?
Honestly, it beggars belief to hear people say that it is undemocratic and disrespectful to ask the electorate what they want to do.
Those calling most stridently for a second vote are, of course, those who would rather stay.
Those objecting most stridently are, of course, those who want to leave no matter what.
Both sides are adopting those positions for exactly the same reasons.
Please don't insult our intelligence by saying that a 2nd vote would be undemocratic. The truth is that you don't want one because you are s**t scared.
And everybody knows that.
