Hello

Looking for a bit of consensus about my back door. It is made of wood and is in quite an exposed location, so I am looking to improve my defences against the elements. I have identified two improvements that I would make, installing around door strips, and a weather bar (links below so you can see what I mean. Don't worry I'm not buying the one from Wickes, that's just an example)

My question is, what priority should these two items take? I know that normally the weatherbar would be measured up so that it is just a few mm short of the doorframe opening, but in that case if door strips were installed then they would collide when the door is closed. I was thinking that the prudent option would be to the install the strips first, and then cut the weatherbar a bit short so that it does not interfere with the strips, but still covers as much of the door width as possible.

What have other people done in this situation, I can't be the only one!

Thanks

I did the strips first seemed logical to me and looks OK my door is not very exposed but I think it would be fine.

That looks good, i’ll go with that setup then. Thanks for the photo. Kicking myself for not getting on with this in the summer months!

PS you will need to cut the handle / lock end of the door bar at a slight (10 degree or so) angle to clear the strip as the door swings.(y)

Anyone else who is fitting a weatherbar, make sure you follow this step! I ended up nibbling more than i needed to off the end of my bar before remembering this advice
