Is this dewalt 5ah battery XR genuine - logo is very different looks like US 20V

Hi

With my son-in-law and just purchased a dewalt 5AH battery, but the logo is different to the ones i have seen online

We are in the UK

heres a picture of the logo on the battery which as i say is different from all other images on line

is this a genuine product , and old batch , or a US import ??

Or are the other batteries Older tech?

The yanks call them 20v as they want it to sound better for ego purposes. 1.2 volt cells don't add up to 20 they do add up to 18 though.

The only difference is the label.

When they're fully charged they read just over 20v.

4.2v X 5=21

In the case of flexvolt it's 3 batteries of 5 cells making 63v.

18v is the nominal operating voltage. But it's true what you're saying, the yanks make it sound better than it is just to market them and people believe there's any difference between that and something labelled 18v. They can't get away with it here because 20v is absolute best case scenario fresh off the charger with a brand new battery.

1.2 volt cells

These are lithium cells though, there's 5 usually...

Nominal voltage = 3.6 * 5 =18v

The higher Ah batteries just have multiples of 5 cells in series, with those 'banks' of 5 wired in parallel.
