I feel that for a specific task I have that a concave file would help, now I know you can get half round files etc, but the back is flat, is there any such thing ? Might be over thinking this.

Maybe.. only thing I've seen so far is some overly harsh rasps from Aus or something for filing horses hooves!

Picture a VW beetle, picture it's rear wheel arches. I have (want) to add some rear lights, hang on I hear you say, add some. well yes, this is complicated as it's a 1:10 scale model of a beetle that has no lighting provision. To that end I need to make some "pods" to house the leds. To do this, I will get some air drying mould clay to replicate the arch geometry, then drill a hole through the cured clay, then insert a dense polystyrene rod through said hole, then shape that to the clay mould, then drill out the holes for the leds, then do all sorts of other fettling. The important and relevant bit there is "shape that to the clay mould" (I really do have some very strange hobbies, but they're harmless and keep me off the steeets)... Bet you're glad you asked now.

Convex, yes, because there's often a need to file-out a circular hole, but there's little call for concave files because you can normally use a flat file to file concave items. You could always make your own by shaping a piece of timber or metal to the required shape, spraying it with contact adhesive and attaching a piece of thin silicon carbide or alox paper, depending on size. Multitools like the Fein supply concave rubber profiles for use with SiC/alox paper and rubber sanding profiles are available from other sources as well. Whilst they may be too big for your purposes, I'd say the principle holds good
