Hi

I've just finished undercoating my kitchen internally using plumb, dot and screed method. I've experimented with both hardwall and cement:lime:sand render to get some experience of laying on. Hardwall goes on a dream. Cls is hard work compared.

Anyway, it's been drying for the last 4 days or so and room temperature is constantly around 15 degrees.

The undercoat is on 'proper' Thermalite blocks. I use the term proper because they aren't. Awful blocks!

What's the best method please for skimming over? 3:1 PVA mix or would you wet the walls with a garden sprayer until the suction is sufficiently knocked back?

Also, board finish or multi?

Thanks again in advance

But you’re a pro!

It is best to keep wetting it with a sprayer until it stops sucking or would you remedy it by applying a fee costs of 3:1 PVA/Water?

I did a spray test on it the other day and it just keeps taking on water. I did got it to the point where it would take no more and it was sitting on the surface.

Not sure how bid your area is but If you can soak it till it doesn't take more water then use that method a good method is using a shaggy paint roller we used this method when we came across hundreds of m2 of hardwall that had been floated by polish spreads but did not skim it thinking they would still get paid if it's just a tiny area then use the spray

Thanks for all the advice.

Job turned out an absolute peach in the end. A bit long winded doing college style plumb, dot and screed but ultra accurate and I used an Ox Speedskim for the skim coat. Amazing piece of kit for a DIY'er.
