Hi, guys my dad and i fitted my kitchen on the weekend and cut the solid oak worktops and laid them on top of the units ready for oiling etc.

Today the plumber was fitting a surestop stop tap and snapped the end off the stop tap. The result a spray of water over the unfinished worktop. I immediately ragged up the water off the top but obviously some has soaked in. The water was not a stream but imagine like a rain effect but only for about 2 seconds.

Are the tops now knackered, will this stain can anyone help me?

Andy

If the grain is raised, just use a fine sand paper to smooth it again. Don't forget to treat the bottom as well as the top. What sort of oil are you using?

hi oilman, the grain does fell raised so i presume the top will be ok. I have ordered tung oil and cascamite for edges and joints, is this ok.

Do you know where i can appliance moisture barriers for over a washing machine or dishwasher.

Thanks

i've just fitted mine ready to treat with tung oil and now after reading this i'll have to take them off to treat the underside.....
do they need sealing ?
how many coats underneath ?
and how many on top before it's useable?
