And of course, it would be dreadfully undemocratic for us not to leave if people no longer want to leave. They know that a long extension is enough time for people to go off the idea.
And of course, it would be dreadfully undemocratic for us not to leave if people no longer want to leave.
But what puzzles me is if leaving is so self-evidently the best thing for the UK, why would people go off the idea? Surely you only go off an idea which you realise was never a good one in the first place?
I can resolve your puzzlement for you:What puzzles me is if it's a bad deal how come the 2nd vote was lost by a smaller majority if it was such a bad deal
And tribal loyalty, irrespective of its benefits or consequences.I can resolve your puzzlement for you:
MPs are not voting on the basis if whether it is a good or bad deal, they are voting on the basis of a mix of cowardice and venality.

The28 government agreed deal will pass and than it will be history
The anti-Europe fanatics led by Rice Pudd have a problem.
They can see resigning from the EU (as they wanted) is a total disaster.
So they want to distance themselves from it by not voting in favour, so they can say "not my fault."
There was an alternative tabled last year (July) which was defeated by just 6 votes, at that time. But that has never been re-presented for 2nd, 3rd or 4th attempts. The May deal is terrible.
The Labour option is as bad.
Both options mean a worse deal than we currently have.
