It is a buzzer, not a transformer.

If you can provide information about the make and model then maybe a circuit diagram could be found and that would bea major help in giving advice about a replacement unit..

Also how many flats are there or is this the only "phone"to the main door ?

Looks like a BITRON AN 0002 but your photo of the wiring terminals is not completely clear.

C7 Call (electronic)
11 Call (AC Buzzer)
1 Speech In (Speaker)
2 Speech Out (Mic)
9 Lock
6 Common

If your system uses AC buzzer across 11 and 6 you can disconnect the wire from 11 and wire a doorchime between that wire and 6 eg a Friedland Facet or an electric buzzer like https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/piezo-buzzer-components/5358461/

If your system uses electronic call on C7 then the call tone is generated by the system panel and can't be changed.

The problem I'm having with is system is, there is no model number or logo nothing but the letter "b" and that could mean anything, all I want is really anything that works and don't make so much scary noise when someone press the buzzer from downstairs. only if i could change the transformer into a speaker and it will work but I'm not sure which 2 wires will the buzzer sound output to begin with any ideas?..there is a lot of smart brains in here. Let do this guys cheers.

@Oline Forgive me, I am trying to be helpful. As they said in 'Allo 'Allo. Listen very carefully, I will only say this once.

NO. It is not a transformer, it is not a speaker. It is a BUZZER.

Owain has already given you a steer on what might be a solution

A speaker won't work. In fact you could damage the central system, and I'll expect the other residents won't thank you for that.

Here's my thoughts. This is an ELECTRICIAN's forum. So we can have a guess at some stuff, and some of us have experience with entry systems. But not many , I'll bet.
I note you haven't tried my suggestion in post #3 to put this on the alarms forum. The guys on there do this sort of thing day in day out. Probably one with say, oh yes thats a Bitron 726 and you can get replacement buzzers from Acme Entry Spares Ltd. Or something.
I really think you should try that.

You could try and find the maker. Maybe the master entry keypad has some details, or the cebtral logic box (that'll be hidden away in a service cupboard, somewhere). But that wont get you very far.....

Or you could carry on guessing, and ignoring the advice you've been given.

EDIT

As it's Friday. Have ascroll through this lot and see if you can match your phone from here http://intercomsrus.com/intercom_handset_finder_tool.htm
