It's nothing though, compared with driving through red lights - definitely a criminal offence and a very serious one. I see this outrage daily now - it's spreading rapidly and it's not just Audi drivers anymore. Where are the police? This ought to be a shoot at will offence.

On a walk about by the local Labour councillors. I approached the main man.
I pointed out all the cars churning up the grass and blocking the paths. He said nothing to do with them, it was down to the police. And these people could not be prosecuted unless they were caught in the act.

Austerity is an easy answer to give when a problem such as current funding the police do have is being unwisely spent.

The police are about just not where people want them.

All of these parking issues could be dealt with, exactly as they are now, by Parking Services and FPN's. We have them stroll down the street at the moment, booking cars parked on the single yellow, in operation between 10am and 1pm. A measure brought in to deter commuter parking blocking our street, but they seem unable at present to do anything outside those hours, where vehicles are dumped obstructing pavements outside those hours. PS should be able to effectively deal with all such parking issues, without need for police involvement.

12 or so years back I got a ticket for parking on the path outside my flat. Rightly so it was thoughtless of me.

Went past yesterday loads of vans and cars park on the path. If you have a pram or wheel chair you have to walk in the road.

Why do they park on the footpath? The road is too narrow and there is no adequate parking? Isn't that the real problem. Lack of infrastructure.

So I presume you can explain the sense in broadening the definition of crimes while being unable to adequately fund the services to tackle them? Because I can't. Nor can the Police Comissioner.


I understand what Austerity is John, I've also told you how it's an easy excuse for the fact which is the police aren't just underfunded, they're spreading themselves too thinly with what little they have on issues people don't see as a priority.

If police concentrated on violent crime, while still being underfunded, they would still do a better job than they're currently doing if it were not for non-issue policing.

True, but only in some cases where the road really is too narrow. That doesn't apply in my street - their parking obstructing the pavement serves no purpose at all, other than it avoid them parking in their drives and saves them walking the extra yard had they properly parked it on the road. There is more than adequate parking around this area, large gardens, long drives. I could fit maybe eight or more cars into my own drive, providing they were parked nose to tail.

Now I believe I've said this but been called a racist for it.
Too many people with too many cars and a dated infrastructure.

I doubt there are many who do it because they don't care. I suspect most do it in order to avoid blocking the road.
