Hello

I wanted to replace fascia's and soffits for some time now as they started to split and few boards already flew away somwhere. I was approached today by a chaps saying they just finished similar job in the neighborhood and after short seeing I was given £1600 quote for my job. If anyone with some experience and can tell if this is a fair figure I would be greatly thankful.

On the front replace old cast iron gutters, fascia and soffit. Replace missing siding just above side bedroom window.

Gutters on the rear are plastic and in good condition so can be refitted. Replace fascia and soffit. At the side of the house fascia is in good condition so only cover gable end with Klobber Dry Verge system and fit boxes on both ends.

DO NOT USE ANYONE THAT CONTACTS YOU.

Get quotes from friends, neighbors or even the large multi national companies and then take it from there.

I had the same, quoted £1500 then dropped to £1000 when the sales team phoned a few days later.

Look for a reliable handyman service in your area, some will do this work.

Or try facebook groups, again in the local area, for recommendations.

It is unwise to use door to door sellers especially on a job like this.

It's certainly a two man job but handyman services do range from the small jobs to bigger ones like fencing, roof repairs etc.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: don't think roofing is a handyman job, neither is faica and soffits.

Whoever you use I hope they have more skill than
the last lot. Ask to see some of their previous work
most tradesmen will have loads of pictures of finished
jobs on their phones.

Many people call themselves e.g. roofers and make a bad name for the genuine professionals, but equally the name "handyman" covers a wide range of skills, not just putting up shelves or rewiring a plug.

Always good to get advice from a DIYer.
