Metro has given name and photo of the driver.
Says he has been arrested for murder
But if he drove the truck (cabin only) from Ireland to pick up the container, why would he be accused of the murder? Maybe police already know he is part of the gang that arranged it all. But what if he's just a truck driver hired to fetch a container, i.e. what truck drivers do for a living?

Now has his face and name all over the place as a murderer. Career over even if he's innocent.

I guess he has to prove that he didn't know they were there - not so easy to do.

Just hit the news, the victims were from China.

I think the courts will need to prove that he did know they were there, for him to be called a murderer.

If you are hired to move a cold transport, would you check inside first? Do truck drivers usually have access to the containers? I guess they do for security.
Says the police arrived 30 minutes after Mr Robinson arrived at the industrial estate, at 1.10am - this would suggest to me he looked inside and saw the bodies, and called an ambulance. Doesn't sound like the sort of thing a criminal gang member would do - surely they'd shut the door and leave and hope they didn't get spotted.

He could very well be innocent...

An interesting radio interview this morning with someone who was in various lorries, and sometimes the driver knew and sometimes they didn't.

Usual press/police disregard for what they inflict on an individual regardless of the facts!

I always thought that in this country everyone was innocent until proven guilty???

As usual, the press seem to jump to their conclusions before any official statements.

police have apparently raided some houses in Ireland. This must mean he is aiding the police with their enquiries, again, suggesting he is a truck driver caught up in smuggling, not a gang member organising it.

He and his family will probably need police protection now, thanks to the the press!

"Lorry driver 'Mo' Robinson, 25, dialled 999 30 minutes after pick-up having gone to get his cargo paperwork and finding 39 dead bodies piled up inside...

Apparently he'd parked up at the industrial estate in Essex and had gone to fetch the paperwork from a pocket on the inside of the lorry door. When he opened the container up and saw all the dead bodies, he was absolutely horrified - as anyone would be - and called the ambulance service who in turn alerted the police."

That of course doesn't stop the police/press publishing pictures of his house, his parent's house, and revealing details about his partner!

The press can't be blamed for him being the driver....
We know nothing. His name should not be out there yet. The truth will come out...

But they can be blamed for going on a witch hunt and pasting his name, picture, home town, wife's name etc. everywhere.

Imagine if you went to a job, opened the door and saw dead bodies, then 12 hours later it was on every newspaper in the UK "Bodd arrested for murder", "Bodd's dad said ... " "Bodd's wife said .." we spoke to Bodd's old friends, they said ... etc. etc. etc.

Totally unnecessary. He might well be guilty as hell, but the press should wait until the result of a trial.

I agree totally. But if he's given names and addresses of those guilty, they will know who he's family are regardless....

My names not Bod in real life....

I know!
My name's not jonbey either!

I agree, but there is always a flip side to being named. If he was part of a smuggling ring (which I doubt), then naming someone can help others come forward as witnesses.

Bit like Jimmy Saville, because he was named in the press lots of other victims came forward and we learned the extent of the problem.
