I'm looking at various wifi outdoor home security cameras. I want 2 installed but undecided which brand to go for. I'm looking at Googlenest, Yale or Swann, I want something that's reliable but not too expensive. Any comments or recommendations?

No, No and No.

search this forum as to why No, cameras should be bought for the job they are doing, over specifying is common as is under specifying also a big problem.

lighting conditions, distance to object, and whether you want to identify the person or just know someone is outside and up to no good.

I bought Neos cams. They're £25 each, wifi, usb powered. Does the trick.

This is how the neos looks right now. Clips are stored for 2 weeks, bit I've upgraded to the better divide which is about £3 a month.

Also interesting to diy, they're bought out a flood / leak monitor recently.

You can buy outdoor mounting cases. Probably not as waterprrof as proper cameras but i have mine under soffits and not had any problems yet.

Neos is certainly not the best option, but for £75 for 3 cameras, cloud storage, mobile app with alerts, it is great value. My wife wanted CCTV, I didn't want to spend hundreds of pounds, so this seemed best option.

hard to say with the garden cameras, dont know the res of them.

with the porch, I would lower the camera as it looks like its at a steep angle, due to the light in the porch, it should then be cock on for id purposes.

yeah, might lower a bit. Wanted it out of reach. Am thinking of replacing the gate cam with something like the Reolink 4MP Super HD Wireless Security Camera Outdoor

The high porch one is handy actually as I can see parcels get delivered. Glad to report that in the months I've owned these, so far nobody has snooped around any time of day or night. Although one person offering a leaflet about God was showing a bizarrely keen interest in the pots each side of the door - not sure what could be interesting about them - they are cheap plastic pots with cheap plants!

Hikvision or Dahua would be my choice. Use Hikvision ip cams and NVR personally and so far been outstanding. The 4k turret cams I have at the front are amazing. Not cheap though :(

I was under the same impression but was proven wrong on here recently with people posting links to suppliers who will still sell to the public. Just be careful of eBay and possible fakes.

I second this.
I’ve got 3x 4K Hik turret cameras (new single aperture style) 2.8mm and they do the job of covering the perimeter of my property very well.
Great clarity and good night time footage.

The way HIK sell is via distributors and retailers, they go through a chain.

The distributors can sell to whom they want but many wont sell direct to the public, but the retailers that do a lot of business the price difference isn't always that great, installers only get good discounts when they hit certain levels or purchases or have big projects to be considered.
