Hi...…. the bonnet catch open alarm is showing up on my dashboard and the hazard warning lights are flashing, but the bonnet is closed. I have disconnected the connector block for the sensor which has stopped the hazard warning lights flashing but the warning is still on my dash. I have contacted my local auto electricians and they charge for booking the car in and charge £55 per hour whilst it in for repair, that I can't afford. Having Googled it, one suggestion was to short the connector block with a piece of wire which I have done. This has cured the problem ( no alarm on the dash ) everything seems to be working ok seatbelt alarm / door open alarm / lights / wipers / radio / sat nav etc. My concern is will the wire I have used to short the connector block overheat. I have no problem with the bonnet catch alarm not working, the older cars didn't have them.
any advice please

( tried to contact you John but couldn't )

I can't see any problem with that one Mick, it's exactly as I would have done.....the switch is normally closed with the bonnet shut anyway which is what you've bypassed. No harm on keeping an eye on it though!
John :)
